Whether you’re a snowbird who leaves for the winter or an avid winter sports enthusiast who spends time ‘up north’ at your cabin during the winter, many of our Truestreamers are part-time residents. So, what are the options for keeping internet and voice services while you’re away?
The first choice is to keep your regular plan year-round.
As we move farther into the age of the smart home and the internet of things, there are lots of reasons to keep your internet plan year-round, including:
- Access cameras remotely.
- Wi-Fi is a must for Airbnb and VRBO renters.
- Access your video doorbell to see who’s dropping in.
- Unlock doors for repair or maintenance service visits.
- Control your security sensors like door locks, lights, and thermostats.
- Be notified of water leaks and pipe breaks with your remote water sensors.
- Avoid a second installation fee upon your return.
- Keep your phone number.
The second option is to go on our vacation plan.
It is $25/mo. for up to 6 months of the calendar year for internet service and $15/mo. for up to 6 months of the year for voice service. You can opt into the vacation plan after one full month of service and must stay on it for a complete billing cycle.
Our vacation internet plan provides 1-2 Mbps bandwidth to operate a security camera while you are away and allows you to switch to a regular internet plan when you return. With the voice vacation plan, you can keep your phone number, dial 911 for emergencies then switch to the standard voice plan when you return.
Is enrolling in a vacation plan better than canceling your service? YES, for sure! If you cancel service, you will need to return your equipment and pay an installation fee ($149) when you come back. If you have voice service, you will lose your phone number.
